Christopher Hedge
and Julian Smedley collaborate with film, video and multi-image artists
to create spectacular large scale presentations featuring live performance.
Participation in international Festivals throughout Europe and the United
States continues to provide an outlet for the The Magic Shop's non-commercial
work.
Highlights:

Cortile Contrapunto:
Staged outdoors in Piazza San Rufo in Rieti, Italy. The four interior
walls of the piazza were photographed and used as a matte template for
a twenty four projector multi-image performance. Quadraphonic music and
sound design by Christopher Hedge was projected from the corners twenty
feet above the audience.
Moscone Surfaces:
Projected onto the multiple planes of the Moscone Convention Center in
San Francisco, US. Original music and sound design by Julian Smedley was
projected from speakers placed among the crowd and the surfaces of the
building.
Traveler: Projected
on screen for audiences in San Francisco, Dallas, and Rieti, Italy. The
award winning production was created from the CD 'Traveler' by Paul Horn
and Christopher Hedge.
Inside Italy: Projected
onto the interior surfaces of a two hundred year old Opera House in Rieti,
Italy. This was a live visual music performance featuring Paul Horn, Julian
Smedley and Christopher Hedge. The production and performance became the
subject of the Bravo! Network film 'Inside Italy'.
Trail of Tears:
Projected on screen for audiences at 'Arte Multivisione' and 'Fantadia'
in Venice, Italy. The production featured the song 'Trail of Tears' from
the CD 'Mbongi' from Christopher Hedge and Titos Sompa. Visualized by
photographer Scott Dewar and featuring images from Sebastiao Salgado.
Hedge and Sompa also gave a live performance for the opera house audience.
